BoP
Benge trumpet has been in the case a LONG time and the 1st valve is stuck. Any way for a novice to get it free and well-oiled to work again?
Gendreauj
Have you squirted valve oil through the bottom cap. If doesn't work, remove bottom cap and squirt valve oil. So the top cap on the valve is stuck? Is the bottom cap stuck too? I have tapped a mouthpiece rim on the bottom caps, never on top cap. Have you given it a bath? If it is a lacquer, wash in warm water with dawn dish soap. A silver plated trumpet can have warmer water. Leave in as long as possible. May have to soak a few times. Before soaking, take out all the slides, and valves that you can. When you take out, clean with brushes soaked in alcohol. Use qtips to clean all caps. If all else fails, go to music store and have it professionally cleaned.
